Imagine Recordings’ founder and Grammy-winning music producer Steve Fishell is a self-described music junkie. “I’ve been lucky to be in the studio playing and producing with extraordinary artists my entire life. It’s a world I deeply love and a world I’m excited to share with our Imagine guests.”

Whether playing steel guitar on top hits for Emmylou Harris, Eric Church, Thomas Rhett, John Prine, Lady Antebellum, Dolly Parton, Rodney Crowell and Reba McEntire, producing groundbreaking projects for Radney Foster, The Mavericks, Pam Tillis and Willie Nelson, or serving as an A&R executive for Universal Music and Sugar Hill Records, Steve has always believed that “if you get the music right, success will follow.”

Each Imagine session is carefully curated by Steve, who often hosts as well. And his lifelong passion for the music and the process shines through in every authentic and entertaining recording session experience.

How long is an Imagine Recordings Session?
Because every Imagine recording session is different, (songs/artists/engineers) we give our creatives the flexibility of 70 – 90 minutes to bring a song to life.

What songs are recorded and where does the music go?
In most sessions, we record a new song composed by an acclaimed Nashville songwriter. When the song is finished, we send it to a publisher (our client) who will shop the song to name recording artists, labels, producers and managers to consider for future album cuts. This process serves as a fundamental and important step in how songs are created and discovered in Nashville. It is very possible that the Imagine session song you witness being recorded ends up being a hit single.

On some occasions, our sessions will include an emerging artist/band who will be recording a song for a potential album cut.

Who are the session artists and engineers?
Our rotating roster of musicians and engineers are a who’s who of music industry pros who have toured and recorded with some of the biggest names in music. We will introduce you to each of these gifted and cool cats during your studio session.

Is there an opportunity for attendees to sing or play an instrument?
While it would be fun to give some of our guests the opportunity to musically contribute, our tight schedule to record a full song in less than 90 minutes prohibits us from carving out time for guests to perform.

May I take photos or videotape during the session?
Because the music we are recording is highly confidential and audio interferences could disrupt live taping, we will have designated times for photos/videos.

Can you accommodate private group sessions?

Yes, we can accommodate private groups up to 50 people in size, and we have the flexibility to handle groups as large as 130 people. Please email for more information.

Can private group sessions include team building / interactive programming?

Yes, we offer a two-hour interactive songwriting/recording session. Your group writes a song with an acclaimed Nashville songwriter, then everyone watches and listens while studio musicians professionally record the freshly-penned track. Time permitting, we often like to have the group sing background vocals or add handclaps. Several hours following the session, Imagine’s engineers will send the mixed track to the group to enjoy for a lifetime.

Will there be food and beverages?

Prior to the session starting and during a brief break at the halfway point, Imagine will have complimentary non alcoholic beverages and light snacks available in the lounge. No food or beverages are permitted in the control room.

What to wear?

We suggest casual and comfortable attire. You have the option to sit or stand throughout the session. The studio temperature will be around 74°.

Where to park?

Imagine Recordings offers ample free parking. You can park on the street in front of Sound Stage Studios at 10 Music Circle South, Nashville, TN 37203. On weekends you can also park behind Sound Stage Studios, where there are designated parking places in the SAE Institute lot. Please only park in the spaces with “Sound Stage” lettering on the pavement. Please avoid parking lots designated with Belmont University signs.
